EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING

Launch Projects are self-driven projects designed to allow students to practice their leadership skills while becoming more invested in their communities. As leaders of the projects, students get hands-on experience organizing and running projects that improve their communities.Students identify needs they are passionate about in their communities, and then explore and implement ways to meet those community needs.

Leadership Launch helps students to identify needs that they are passionate about in their communities such as:

  • Organizing a clean-up day in a run-down part of the community

  • Assisting a low-income grandparent with fixing a roof

  • Working with local officials to take action regarding a particular issue

  • Helping another nonprofit organization with a project

We also help students explore and implement ways to meet those community needs by:

  • Brainstorming sessions

  • Creative problem solving

  • Recruiting and supervising volunteers
  • Leading the project

Students also learn project management skills and are supported by mentors as they engage in the community.
